Environment/lithology: marine; quartzite and dolomite

• "alternating qtzite and dolo, nearshore, geosynclinal, BA1"
• Most of the matrix in which the fossils are found is a leached, porous, quartz sandstone, light gray or stained brown by iron oxide. The sand is mainly fine-grained, but some is very fine. In the least weathered specimens there is less porosity and a small percentage of dolomite cement.
